Smash it

Its tight but... Somethin doesnt add up. I really have to listen hard to pick it out and i noticed it right after 1:40 when things cleared up. I guess theres too much compression for the high frequencies to push thru. Its not crystal, the plates are a little too mushy. Bass goes all over the place so they dont stand a chance. All your songs have this certain resemblance in the frequency mix, other channels eat others. Nice sounds tho, get it r/tight and you ARE golden :)

SteakJohnson responds:

it does indeed sound mushy. This mushiness must be met with force! DIAZTORTION ON EVERYTHIN! thanks for the review, i think im overusing master compression

MM FRESH

Has this bright and nice vibe to it. I like this one. I dont really rate a lot but this has so good feeling to it. Although I HATED the violin which started at 0:54. Cant stand it, AWFUL. Maybe because it didnt have the same room effect, was standin out WAY too much and took away the atmosphere created before. Everything else was top notch :)

YouriX responds:

Well what can i say? Thanks!! Oh to bad you didnt like the violin, i did :0
Anyways im honored that you took the time to review my work!
Thank you ;)

Yeah

First song ive downloaded from NG. And ive heard them all. I take it that you made this mainly from loops.. which means originality ratio goes down drastically. Anyway, this kind of mix still has had a lot of workin and fixin hours sacrifised in it. Theres somethin different here from what ive heard in soundcloud and Petter Alexis. No vocals :D and the beat is a bit less electronic, more down to earth. Crunchy. So i like and i dont care how you did it. Its good. LALALA.

shaggyhaired responds:

Haha thanks. You'd be surprised at how much work I actually put into sampled beats. The samples are instruments in my view, not just loops. The way I mix/edit/arrange it takes just as much effort.

Hello!

I thought this was shit. But no. It was something else. There really was something behind and i almost got a hand of it but it was too short. Damn. Something longer next time, but beware, nothing goes unseen. PLEASE something longer so i can process. :)

shiztime responds:

Thanks for your feedback, Jake. I haven't heard from you in a while. How is Kentucky treating you? ;)

Almost my favourite song.

Ive been listenin a lot of megaman and other 8bit remixes, some plausible some not, but now for once im gonna say something. At first, hearing one of my favourite megaman songs playing when openin the audioportal front page, i got psyched and eager to hear the rest...as the song progressed i REALLY really REAALLY hoped it would deliver somethin deeper, not only a simple bass drum line thumpin, you know the one anyone could do and then put a plate right after a thump and scatter some smaller ones around. But you did exactly that. I was so hopin for some serious shit, FOR ONCE, complicated yet simple to the ear drum'n'bass, BUT no. And the main synth needs somethin less. Too much dance, something more retro yet powerfull. And someone said it overpowers other instruments... true, and that doesnt mean its powerfull. Wasnt all bad tho, real quality sounds, just keep workin on the structure. Sequence things right or better or atleast in a way it says somethin more... AND mr. megaman is a friend to all analogue synths.

weemeee responds:

Well like i said in earlier reviews i just might do some more MM remixes, and who knows i'll do just that :) Thanks for the review!

A Bit tighter and it would snap durin penetration.

And about the song :D I see youve no problems with your reese or snare. Absolute delight yet too short to reach climax. Id like to know how to get the drums so "together intact", somewhat pendulumic beat. And Id like to know which software you use :) What you are lacking, are definitely NOT tecnical skills, but the melody and all that which makes it memorable, that distinction which makes you differ from all the other reese and snare lovers. Then again if its meant to work as a soundtrack, then its superb. Oh yes, and in some point (here and there), it gets just slightly a bit mushy. Cant really put my finger on it, maybe its the snare after all, not being crystal enough. I guess i have to listen to your other songs if theres more to it. But ingenius drums and bass, loud and clear.

SteakJohnson responds:

Thanks man, glad ya liked it. I guess this one is more soundtracky, but some fun arps in there couldn't hurt anything... But I use Fl studio 9, snare needs some treble boosting indeed. The pendulumic beat i think, is through the use of limiters/compression/eqing, i used all those on the drums.

Great :)

Nice one here. Absolute perfection with the bass and drums. Everythin else fits too. Only a few things just didnt go that well especially the part where it starts again with the flow, just before that around 1:55 feels like my computer is lagging or something :D. Anyway just had to say somethin about that TristanLuigi guys comment. Dear god how stupid can one be. It doestn matter which genre or how fast or how simple a song is, it can still be the greatest song ever.

TiGeR responds:

Agree, nothing wrong with calmness >.<

Anywho, thx for the review!
